The map below shows the number of EPA remote workers (as of June 2024) by the state in which their alternative worksite was located.

At the time, EPA had 3,149 remote workers located in 50 states and Washington, D.C. Remote workers made up 18.8 percent of EPA’s workforce.

In January 2025, the President directed that all executive agencies require employees work in-person at agency offices, with certain exceptions. As a result, the information in this map may not reflect the current number or location of remote workers at EPA.
