Survey Results on USDA's Implementation of Food Security Act Compliance Provisions

Introduction

Please note: You may need to use the scroll bar on the right-hand side of the screen to read all the information on a page. The Congress has asked the U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), an independent agency that gathers information for the Congress, to review USDA's oversight of highly erodible land and wetland conservation requirements (that is, conservation compliance provisions of the Food Security Act of 1985, as amended.) Specifically, the Congress is interested in how well the USDA is managing and enforcing these compliance provisions. The purpose of this survey is to collect information that will help GAO assess how conservation compliance is being monitored at the local level, as well as to identify areas of possible improvement.

Introduction, cont.

As part of this review, we are surveying NRCS employees who have experience with conducting status reviews. We are surveying one employee in each county in the United States that has conducted a status review. So that views from all regions of the country are represented in the results, it is critical that you respond. Your cooperation in completing this questionnaire is vital to our study. We will take steps to protect the confidentiality of your responses. Our report will contain summary responses, not information that identifies any individuals or offices.

Instructions

When answering the questions, please feel free to consult others in your local office who also have experience in conducting status reviews.
