The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), an agency of the U.S. Congress,
is surveying universities that receive federal research funds about their
policies concerning (1) making the results of federally funded research available
to the public without delays, and (2) managing financial conflicts of interest
that could affect research results. In addition, we are asking whether access to
data from federally funded research has been requested through the Freedom of
Information Act.
We are conducting this study at the request of Senator Richard Shelby.
