U.S. General Accounting Office

Survey of Supervisors at U.S. Attorneys' Offices (GAO-04-616SP)

Introduction

Please Note: You may need to use the scroll bar on the right hand side of the screen to read all the information on the page.

The U.S. General Accounting Office (GAO), an independent congressional agency, is assessing the management of the U.S. Attorneys' Offices for the House Judiciary Committee and the House Subcommittee on Administrative and Commercial Law. This survey has been approved by the Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA).

The purpose of this survey is to assist us in determining (1) how performance goals and measures are communicated to you from EOUSA and how well they reflect the work done by your unit; (2) how you monitor case progress, including progress toward resolution and time spent on the case; (3) how the performance evaluation system helps you identify the strengths and weaknesses and distinguish among the Assistant U.S. Attorneys; (4) what are the reasons for and effects of the turnover in Assistant U.S. Attorneys; (5) how information technology meets your needs; (6) how the administrative (non-attorney) staff supports your unit; and (7) how training helps you and your staff perform their jobs.

GAO will take steps to prevent the disclosure of individually identifiable data from this survey. Your answers will be combined with those of other supervisors throughout all the U.S. Attorneys' offices and reported only in summary form to the Congress. The user name that you were provided helps us in our follow-up efforts and will not be used to identify you or associate you with your responses. After the survey has been processed, the link between you and your responses will be destroyed and no one will be able to tell how you or anyone else answered.

It will take you about 45 minutes to complete this survey. You can easily answer most of the questions by checking boxes or filling in blanks. Space for any additional comments has also been provided at the end of the survey.

Thank you for your time and cooperation.
