We recognize that states and local jurisdictions may establish many alternatives to in-person, election
day voting, including absentee and early voting. For the purposes of this survey, we define
absentee and early voting as follows:
Absentee voting: Generally by mail in advance of election day (although ballots may often be returned up through election day and dropped off in person) Early voting: Generally in-person voting in advance of election day at specific polling locations, separate from absentee voting |
