5 | 111 Muskin Drive, Walkerton, Indiana | Door manufacturer | 1 | Yes-April 20, 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 1 ton of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine was shipped to this site in April 1978. According to information EPA collected during its investigation, Wormald International operated at this site for about 3 years in the mid-1970s and manufactured fire resistant doors. Trucks delivered bags of exfoliated vermiculite to the facility. The vermiculite was mixed with rice hulls and other materials to form a fire proof core for the doors. At the time of EPA's site visit, Premdor, another door manufacturer, operated at the site. According to a company official, Premdor had no history of vermiculite use. On the basis of this information, EPA determined no further action was needed at this site. |
