5 | 345 E. Main Street, Milan, Michigan | Unknown | 2 | Yes-April 6, 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 2 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine was shipped to this site in December 1981. At the time of EPA's site visit, the company was using raw, unexfoliated vermiculite as an additive to its products. According to a company official, vermiculite ore was not exfoliated at the site and, to their knowledge, none of the raw vermiculite ore was received from the Libby mine. According to the company official, the ore received during 1999 came from Perlite Vermiculite Packaging, in North Bloomfield, Ohio. (This site was also evaluated by EPA and appears as a separate entry in this database.) EPA did not have any information in its files indicating the type of products produced by this company. On the basis of this information, EPA decided no further action was needed. |
