5 | 459 Harding Street NE, Minneapolis, Minnesota | Former exfoliation facility | 7,345 | Yes-April 13, 2000 | Yes | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 7,345 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between March 1973 and December 1982. EPA's investigation indicated that this site had been owned in the past by companies other than Certainteed, including Diversified Insulation and Twin Cities Wholesale Supply. When EPA visited the site, it was owned by Sterling Supply, a distributor of building materials. EPA found vermiculite in the soil near a railroad spur and a loading dock but could not determine how the vermiculite had been used. Three soil samples were collected by EPA and none of the samples contained detectable levels of asbestos. EPA could not provide information on the method used to analyze the samples. EPA determined that no further action was needed. |
