5 1050 Hazel Street, Building 410, Dock 91-105, St. Paul, Minnesota Warehouse 32,340 Yes-April 12, 2000 No According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 32,340 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between November 1968 and November 1992. When EPA visited this site in April 2000, the 3-M Company was using the warehouse on the site to store vermiculite in "supersacks". According to company officials, the vermiculite was stored and not used at this site. The sacks were transported to 3-M Chemolite located in Cottage Grove, Minnesota (listed separately in this database) for use in manufacturing catalytic converters. The company received its last shipment of vermiculite from Libby, Montana, in 1992 and planned to continue transporting the Libby vermiculite to 3-M Chemolite through 2002. While EPA determined that the vermiculite did not pose an outdoor health threat, it determined an indoor threat could occur if a supersack ruptured during transport. EPA determined no further action was needed.
