5 | 1693 N. Water Street, Milwaukee, Wisconsin | Lubricating oil manufacturer | 1 | Yes-April 5, 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 1 ton of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine was shipped to this site between September 1967 and October 1968. At the time of EPA's site visit, the building on the site was being used as a private residence. The person living there had owned the property for 17 years. The owner had researched the history of the property and found that, between 1942 and 1972, the building had housed W.L. Spencer Oil Company, which manufactured lubricating oils; and from 1975 to 1983, a recording studio had operated at the site. EPA did not observe any evidence of vermiculite and could find no information about vermiculite use at the site. On the basis of this information, EPA decided no further action was needed. |
