7 | 2109 Quail Avenue, Fort Dodge, Iowa | Gypsum board manufacturer | 4,692 | Yes-September 12, 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 4,692 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between March 1967 and March 1986. At the time of EPA's visit, the plant manager said that this facility produced fire-rated drywall board that contained vermiculite. This drywall board had been produced at the facility since the company began operations in 1958. The plant manager said, to his knowledge, the facility had never expanded (exfoliated) vermiculite ore and had obtained all of the vermiculite it used for manufacturing drywall from Carolina Vermiculite Company. (The Carolina Vermiculite site was also evaluated by EPA and is listed separately in this database). The plant manager produced documentation indicating that the ore used at the time of EPA's visit was from Carolina Vermiculite. EPA determined no further action was needed. |
