7 2374 Mill Road, Fort Dodge, Iowa Gypsum board manufacturer 3,200 Yes-September 12, 2000 No According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 3,200 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between February 1967 and October 1984. This facility was initially operated by Bestwall Gypsum, but Georgia Pacific Corporation purchased it in the 1960s. At the time of EPA's visit, the plant manager stated that Georgia Pacific produced a type of fire-rated drywall board that contains vermiculite. This product had been produced at the facility since around 1980. The plant manager said, to the best of his knowledge, Georgia Pacific had never expanded (exfoliated) vermiculite and that all of the vermiculite used was obtained from Virginia Vermiculite. (The Virginia Vermiculite site is listed separately in this database). The plant manager had documentation indicating that the ore used at the time of EPA's visit was from Virginia Vermiculite. EPA determined no further action was needed.
