7 | 2127 US Highway 77, Blue Rapids, Kansas | Gypsum board manufacturer | 621 | Yes-September 7, 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 621 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between February 1967 and May 1985. At the time of EPA's visit, this facility produced fire-rated drywall board that contained vermiculite. According to the plant manager, this product had been produced at this facility since the 1970s. The plant manager said, to the best of his knowledge, the facility never expanded (exfoliated) vermiculite ore and all of the vermiculite used in the fire-rated drywall was obtained from Carolina Vermiculite Company. The company had documentation indicating that the ore used at the time of EPA's visit was from Carolina Vermiculite. (Carolina Vermiculite is listed separately in this database). EPA determined no further action was needed. |
