9 | Street address unknown, San Bernardino, California | Railroad spur | 676 | No | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 676 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site between May and September 1972. In January 2001, EPA determined that this site was a railroad spur that had been removed and paved over for use as a parking lot. EPA made this determination on the basis of telephone calls to the California Public Utilities Commission and several entities in the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. EPA concluded that if any vermiculite was present in the soil, it would be encapsulated by the pavement and unlikely to pose a threat. EPA determined no further action was needed. |
