9 | 22 Battery Street, San Francisco, California | Former exfoliation facility | Unknown | Yes-March 29,2000 | No | An EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices did not contain any records indicating Libby ore was shipped to this site. However, a 1953 report issued by the Bureau of Mines (at that time in the U.S. Department of the Interior) indicated this facility had been a vermiculite exfoliation plant. At the time of EPA's site visit, an office building was located on this property, which was paved. EPA concluded that if any vermiculite was present in the soil, it would be encapsulated by the pavement and unlikely to pose a threat. EPA determined no further action was needed. |
