2 Insular Highway 845, Kilometer Marker 0.5, Cupey Bajo, (Ferrara and Lido Street), Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico Unknown Unknown Yes-March 8, 2000 No Although there were no records showing that this site received shipments of Libby ore, it was added to the list of sites to be investigated as a result of information EPA collected through the Superfund section 104(e) process. Section 104(e) authorizes EPA to issue information request letters to any person who may have information about a site. EPA found that this site was owned by a medical device manufacturer that started operations in 2000. The owner of the site did not know anything about previous owners but said he understood the building was constructed for commercial activity. EPA was unable to obtain any information about W.R. Grace’s operations at the site, including when the company conducted operations, what products were manufactured, and whether exfoliation occurred on-site. EPA did not find any vermiculite product or waste or any evidence of an exfoliation plant during its initial visit in March 2000 and during follow-up visits in December 2003 and September 2005. On the basis of this information, EPA decided that it would be highly unlikely that any vermiculite remains at this site and that no further action would be necessary.
