Grace shipping invoices contained no records indicating Libby ore was shipped to this site, an October 1953 information circular published by the Bureau of Mines (in the U.S. Department of the Interior) indicated that this facility was a vermiculite exfoliation plant. When EPA visited the site, it was an office building in downtown Baltimore, Maryland. The building registry did not indicate that the Vermiculite Products Company occupied the building. EPA performed computer searches but found no additional information that was helpful. On the basis of its site investigation, EPA concluded no further action was necessary. |
