3 | State Route # 92, Harding, Pennsylvania | Acoustic ceiling tile manufacturer | < 1 | Yes-September 9, 2000 | Yes | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 200 bags of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to this site in 1970. Each bag contained 4 cubic feet of ore. Celotex Corporation had been manufacturing ceiling tiles at the site for commercial use since at least 1957. According to a Celotex official, the vermiculite that was purchased was added to the slurry that was used to make the final product. EPA collected two bulk/soil samples, and neither of the samples contained detectable levels of asbestos. The samples were analyzed using polarized light microscopy (PLM). On the basis of this information, EPA decided no further action was necessary. |
