3 | 3600 Grays Ferry Avenue, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania | Unknown | 2,130 | Yes-exact date of visit unknown but occurred in 2000 | No | According to an EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices, 50 tons of vermiculite ore from the Libby mine were shipped to Allied Chemical and Dye in April 1967 and 2,080 tons of Libby ore were shipped to Celotex Corporation between August 1967 and August 1973. In addition, both companies appeared on a list of W.R. Grace licensees and industry partners. EPA could collect only limited information about this site. At the time of EPA's visit, the site was a vacant lot that had been leveled; bricks and concrete rubble covered the surface. Because of the condition of the site, the lack of evidence of vermiculite ore or vermiculite product on the site, and no indication where to collect samples, EPA decided the chance of finding asbestos from past vermiculite operations was minimal. On the basis of this information, EPA decided no further action was necessary. |
