Grace shipping invoices, this site received 9,975 tons of Libby ore between November 1974 and April 1990. Furthermore, U.S. Geological Survey reports in 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, and 1999 indicated that this facility was a vermiculite exfoliation plant. EPA collected two samples at this site on January 25, 2001—one from raw ore in a rail car and one from soil beside a railroad track. The samples did not contain detectable levels of asbestos as analyzed using polarized light microscopy (PLM). EPA decided no further action was needed. |
