4 | 1302 Patterson Road, Enoree, South Carolina | Mining and former exfoliation facility | Unknown | Yes-February 16, 2000 | Unknown | An EPA database compiled from W.R. Grace shipping invoices did not contain any records indicating Libby ore was shipped to this site. However, a 1964 report by the Bureau of Mines (at that time located in the U.S. Department of the Interior) indicated this facility was a vermiculite exfoliation plant. In addition, U.S. Geological Survey reports published in 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, and 1990 indicated that this facility was a vermiculite exfoliation plant. According to information collected during EPA's visit to this site in February 2000, this facility had been closed for about 3 years. Available documentation indicated EPA completed its evaluation, and decided no further action was needed. EPA did not have documentation indicating whether sampling was conducted. No other documentation was available regarding the basis for EPA's decision. |
