Hello. My name is __________ and I work for the U.S. Government Accountability Office, or GAO,
which does research and analysis for the U.S. Congress.
Like we said in our phone call to you earlier, we want to talk to you about your experience with
writing checks for the main bank account you or your family uses, and how that might have changed
since about the year 2000.
This interview is going to take less than an hour. We won't ask for any personal financial
information, and we won't name you or identify you in any way in our report.
My colleague will be recording the answers you give. We are also audio-taping your responses
to make sure we accurately capture your answers. If something I say doesn't make sense to you
or is unclear, please don't hesitate to interrupt me at any point and ask questions.
Do you have any questions about this project before we begin?
I'm going to start by going over a few things you told us over the phone, just to make sure
we've got your banking and checking background straight.
