Short Description A federally chartered nonprofit corporation that provides financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts and housing counseling. NeighborWorks America has a network comprising more than 230 community-based organizations in 50 states. NeighborWorks also administers the National Foreclosure Mitigation Counseling (NFMC) Program, which was designed to rapidly expand the availability of foreclosure mitigation counseling. NeighborWorks competitively distributes NFMC funds to housing counseling intermediaries, state housing finance agencies, and housing counseling agencies within the NeighborWorks network.

Fiscal Year 2010 Obligations $233,000,000; federal obligations provided $168 million in base funding and an additional $65 million for activities related to foreclosure counseling mitigation and prevention.
