Rental Housing Assistance Payments (RAP)

Short Description Provides additional subsidies equal to the difference between the basic rent and 30 percent of income for certain units in a multifamily rental project that either received mortgage insurance under Section 236 or were financed by states and not insured by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Most units receiving RAP funding have converted to Section 8 assistance. However, state-funded, non-FHA insured projects were not converted and continue to receive amendment funds for cost increases on their RAP contracts. Tenants of subsidized units must be very low-income individuals.
